From 2022 onwards MIAR will not show the ICDS calculation. Instead we will only show the profile of the journals' presence in the sources analysed by MIAR: under the label 'Diffusion' the number of presences will be indicated according to the four categories of sources used. With this change, we want to focus on our core objective: to gather useful information for those who have to evaluate journals, but without being a source for ranking journals according to a single metric. ICDS values from previous years will be available in the archived versions of MIAR.

Editor's coments:
La Revista Electrónica “Actualidades Investigativas en Educación”, es una publicación cuatrimestral de carácter académico, producida por el Instituto de Investigación en Educación (INIE), de la Universidad de Costa Rica; la cual se coloca a disposición del personal docente de esta universidad así como de la comunidad nacional e internacional interesados en el área educativa.
El propósito de la revista es generar un espacio de análisis, discusión y reflexión en el ámbito educativo. Asimismo, promueve la difusión de la producción académica realizada por especialistas en el área de la educación y aportes que se produzcan desde otras disciplinas, esto, con la ayuda de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación.
Se aceptan artículos, ensayos y trabajos de investigación concluidos que, a su vez, presenten un aporte teóricamente sustentado, y podrán estar redactados en idioma español, inglés y portugués. Los documentos serán evaluados por al menos por pares académicos externos según la especialidad del documento, pudiendo recurrir a un tercero en caso de discrepancia de criterios.

En el año 2007, se realizó un estudio bibliométrico a la revista de sus primeros 5 años de labor. Se publicó en el Vol. 7 Núm 2.
En la página de Redalyc se despliegan los indicadores cienciométricos de la revista desde el año 2005 y en la página de Scielo-Costa Rica se despliegan algunas estadísticas desde el año 2013.
